Joseph A.'s Story
Joseph A. DeLorenzo, 89, beloved husband of Barbara L. (Brotchie) DeLorenzo, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the Beverly Hospital.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Caroline (Serra) DeLorenzo. He received his education in the Beverly school system and graduated from Beverly High School.
Mr. DeLorenzo was the founder of Del-West Sheet Metal and the Danversport Yacht Club.
A lifelong resident of Beverly, he was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Beverly and a member of the Italian Community Center. An accomplished clarinet player, Mr. DeLorenzo enjoyed playing in several different bands throughout the years. He also enjoyed wintering with his wife in Marco Island, Fla.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was hardworking and a devoted family man who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage, he is survived by two daughters, Janice Galipeau and her companion, Al Guilbeault of Beverly and Nancy Petronio and her husband, Greg of Danvers; four sons, Larry DeLorenzo and his companion, Joanne Fall of Beverly, Daniel DeLorenzo and his wife, Joanne of Danvers, Paul DeLorenzo and his wife, Mary of Wenham and Kevin DeLorenzo and his wife, Diane of Beverly; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a sister, Rose Czarnecki of Danvers.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly, Friday, July 28, 2017, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. As requested, there will be no visiting hours. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Good Friday Walk Inc., P.O, Box 646, Beverly, MA 01915 or the charity of one’s choice.
