John (Jack) William Swiniarski, Jr., of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
He was born on December 3, 1948, in Beverly, Massachusetts, to the late John Sr. and Anna (Bajkiewicz) Swiniarski. He was a graduate of the North Bennet Street Industrial School. He started work as a licensed general contractor in Massachusetts, and later joined the United States Postal Service, until his retirement in 2008, serving in several positions including General Supervisor, Postmaster, and District Finance Manager for several offices in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
He is most remembered for his artistic skill in fine woodworking, his passion for numismatics, his love of gardening, his fierce card playing, and his quiet and wry sense of humor. He enjoyed, most of all, his quiet times with his beloved partner and soulmate, Mary LeBlanc.
Surviving are his four daughters, Tara Fly (Paul) of Edmonds, Wash., Heather Rae Dunn (William Jr.) of Stoneham, Mass., Alexis Swiniarski of Grafton, Ohio, Samantha Swiniarski of Keene, New Hampshire; sisters, Geraldine and Joan (Honey); grandchildren, Nathaniel, Mara, and Caleb. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert.
A celebration of his life and calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vt.
