John J.'s Story
John J. Crowley, husband of Marilyn J. (Ramsdell) Crowley died Thursday evening at Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Salem, son of the late Eugene W. and Mabel A. (Kelly) Crowley, he graduated from Salem High School, class of 1956. Following High School, John served in the United States Army from 1956 through 1959 and was honorably discharged. Soon after, John married his childhood sweetheart, Marilyn, in 1960 and became a Beverly resident at that time. John and Marilyn recently celebrated fifty seven years of marriage.
He enjoyed his family and most important to him was that he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
John was employed by Verizon for 39 and was retired. He was member of the Board of Directors for Align Credit Union for thirty three years and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
Surviving him in addition to his wife is a son, John M. Crowley of North Carolina; two daughters, Christine M. Ruest of Medford; and Stephanie A. DiStasio and her husband, Emilio, of Danvers; a sister, Ruth A. Prentiss of Danvers; five grandchildren, Jennifer M. Ruest of Medford; Daniel N. Crowley, Patrick M. Crowley, Joseph M. DiStasio, and Emily R. DiStasio, all of Danvers; a sister-in-law, Patricia A. Crowley of Danvers; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, North Beverly, on Tuesday, March 14th, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Monday March 13th from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Beverly.
