Jeanne M.'s Story
Jeanne M. Thibodeau, 85, of Marblehead, passed peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2017, surrounded by her family at the Lafayette Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Home. Jeanne was the daughter of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Despres) Richard. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph “Frannie” Thibodeau in 2009.
Jeanne was affectionately known by her family and friends as Joanne. She was raised in Lynn, Mass. and graduated from Saint Jean’s High School and was employed by the Des Roberts Electric Company and General Electric before raising her son and later helping to care for her grandchildren. Joanne resided in Marblehead beginning in 1972 and loved the beautiful views of the ocean and harbor, especially the crashing waves during storms.
She shared a loving marriage with Frannie Thibodeau for 54 years and was the loving mother of her only child John Thibodeau and his wife, Patty of Marblehead. She was a devoted grandmother “Memere” to David Thibodeau of Los Angeles, Calif. and Molly Thibodeau and her husband Adam Dunlavy of New York, N.Y. Nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her family. She never missed a game or performance of either of her grandchildren.
Joanne loved to travel, especially to visit relatives in Canada and throughout the U.S. but the highlight of her travels was a trip to Rome with the Saint Jean’s Choir to perform for the Pope at the Vatican. Joanne could see beauty in everything and everyone. She loved to laugh and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed opera, theatre, and the symphony. She will be missed by her family, her many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
