Jean R. (Foster)'s Story
Jean R. (Foster) Doig, 82, died Monday, March 13, 2017, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Kenneth M. Doig who died in 2012.
Born in Presque Isle, Maine, on August 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Annabelle A. (Allen) Foster. She resided in Presque Isle and Boston for many years before moving to Beverly nearly 60 years ago. Jean was a graduate of Presque Isle High School and Boston University College of Business Administration.
Jean was employed as the office manager at Essex Cardiology Associates in Beverly for many years before her retirement in 2004. She also once worked in the Patient Accounts Department at Beverly Hospital, the Auditing Department at Sears in Peabody and the Statistical Deptartment at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Boston.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed dancing, reading and traveling with her husband. A member of the Second Congregational Church, Jean stayed involved in community organizations, was active her sons’ school activities and loved volunteering at the Beverly Senior Center.
She is survived by her two sons, Scott P. Doig and Bruce M. Doig and his wife, Janet (Spiridigliozzi), all of Beverly; four grandchildren, Christopher Doig, Jenna-Leigh Doig, Nicholas Doig and his wife, Kaitlyn and Kayla Doig; her twin sister, Joyce A. Davis of Aurora, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her three brothers-in-law, William Davis, George Doig and James Doig.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
