Jacquelyn (Player)'s Story
Jacquelyn (Player) Atkinson, 92, wife of the late Weymouth M. Atkinson, Sr., died Tuesday evening July 4, 2017, in the Brentwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Danvers after a brief illness.
Born in Ipswich on September 4, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Gordon D. and Eva M. (Surrette) Player.
Mrs. Atkinson was a life-long resident of Ipswich, she was a graduate of Ipswich High School, Class of 1941. She was formerly employed at Sylvania, Cable Hospital, for her brother Gordon at A.J. Barton Monuments and later at Tognazzi Monuments, all of Ipswich. Mrs. Atkinson was predeceased by her husband, Weymouth on November 2, 1986.
Mrs. Atkinson is survived by her three children, Weymouth M. Atkinson, Jr. of Ipswich, Hazel J. McNeil of Everett and Lillian P. Karson of Palm Desert, Calif. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and her sister, Kay Kellie of Ipswich. She was also predeceased by her eight brothers, Gordon, Joseph, Donald, John, David, George, Paul and Richard, and by her five sisters, Lillian, Hazel, Beverly, Thelma and Gini.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 7th at 11 a.m. at the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited. At Mrs. Atkinson’s request there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Arbor Day Foundation, 211 No. 12th. St., Lincoln, Neb. 68508.
