Irene M. (Curry)'s Story
Irene M. Wilkish, 101 years old, passed away, Tuesday morning, January 31, 2017, at the Brentwood Nursing Center in Danvers. We are greatly saddened but celebrate her long and wonderful life she shared with us.
She was the loving wife of the late Francis “Hank” Wilkish, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in Swampscott, daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret Curry, she was raised, educated, and lived most of her life in Lynn.
Irene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Mahoney and her husband, Alvin, of Salem; a son, Francis Wilkish, Jr. of Ipswich; and a son, Edward Wilkish and his wife, Janice of Lynn.
She was the sister of the late Paul and Raymond Curry.
She was the loving grandmother of Shawn Mahoney and Erica Gendreau of Peabody, Sherry Wilkish of Salisbury, Susan Malatesta of Malden, and Edward Wilkish, Jr. of New Hampshire.
She will also be loving remembered by seven great-grandchildren, Eric, Tristan, and Skylar Gendreau, Madeline Mahoney, Cole Malatesta, and James and Edward Wilkish.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Solimine Funeral Home 426 Broadway, (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
