Helene's Story

Helene R. Madden-Rossi, 93, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2017, in her home in Venice, Fla.
Daughter of the late Vernice and Helena (Maney) Smith of Swampscott, Mass., Helene was born in Beverly, Mass., raised in Swampscott, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lynn, Mass.
In addition to raising her six children, Helene worked for Sylvania as an executive secretary for many years until her retirement. She loved travel, fashion, and spending time with family and friends.
Helene is survived by her son, Daniel Madden and his wife, Judy (Burrows) of Englewood, Fla.; son, Paul Madden and his wife, Anne (Glodt) of Baltimore, Md.; son, David Madden of Sussex, N.J.; daughter, Cheryl (Madden) Williams and her husband, Tom of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; son, Chip Madden and his wife, Kathy (MacPherson) of Peabody; daughter-in-law, Marie “Terry” (Duff) Madden of Norfolk, Va.; stepson, Peter Rossi and his wife, Linda of Haverhill, Mass.; grandson, Ryan Madden of Middleton, Wis.; granddaughter, Colleen (Madden) Arnold and her husband, Todd of Phoenix; grandson, Michael Madden and his wife, Heather (Brumberger) of San Francisco; granddaughter, Carole (Madden) Taylor and her husband, Martin of Baltimore, Md.; granddaughter, Tara (Madden) Hughes and her husband, Rob of Winchester, Mass.; granddaughter, Sarah (Madden) Martorano and her husband, Steve of Somerville, Mass.; granddaughter, Julie (Madden) Cook and her husband, Albert of Gloucester, Mass.; granddaughter, Elise (Williams) Dalton and her husband, Josh of Venice, Fla.; grandson, Sean Williams and his wife, Amanda (vonHack-Prestinary) of Southern Pines, N.C.; grandson, Jeremy Williams of Southern Pines, N.C.; granddaughter, Cindy (MacPherson) Powers and her husband, Justin of Peabody, Mass.; granddaughter, Melissa (Michaud) Wood and her husband, John of Peabody; granddaughter, Katelyn (Madden) Mahoney and her husband, Rob of Raleigh, N.C.; grandson, Brett Santeusanio of Connecticut; grandson, Lance Santeusanio of Connecticut; grandson, Nicholas Rossi of Peabody; granddaughter, Ciara Rossi of Peabody; granddaughter, Kendra Rossi; along with 27 great-grandchildren.
Helene was predeceased by her loving husband, Levardi “Lee” Rossi; her son, Robert “Bob” Madden; daughter-in-law, Catherine (Quinn) Madden; granddaughter, Melissa Madden; stepson, Levandi Rossi; stepdaughter, Catherine (Rossi) Santeusanio; and her sisters, Gertrude “Trudy” Sline, Eileen Moran, and Louise Lovely.
Funeral services will be held at St. James Church, located on 160 Federal St., Salem, MA 01970, on Friday, September 8, 2017, at 10 a.m. Contributions may be made in Helene’s memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Society.
