Hazel I. (Hilton)'s Story

Hazel Irene (Hilton) Bickford, 92, of Beverly, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 10, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry W. Bickford, Jr. She was born and raised in Lynn, dear daughter of the late Clarence and Emma (Abbott) Hilton. Hazel was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School with the Class of 1941.

Mrs. Bickford was a terrific cook and master quilter. She was employed at the former Jordan Marsh Department Store and was also a cashier in the courtesy booth at Star Market in Beverly. She will be greatly missed by her friends at Turtle Woods and Harborlight in Beverly. She had a wonderful sense of humor and characteristic laugh and made friends everywhere she went.

A longtime Beverly resident, she moved to Oscala and Palm Coast, Florida but returned to Beverly in 2006. She also summered in Epsom, New Hampshire on her beloved Northwood Lake. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Beverly.

The family would like to thank the staff at Turtle Woods and Harborlight Community Partners for their support, concern and affection.

She is survived by one son, Phillip Bickford of Santa Rose, Calif.; two grandchildren, Scott Moyers and his wife, Erin of Ala., and Gary Moyers of New Hampshire; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew and Kyle Moyers; one sister-in-law, Barbara Rafuse of East Long Meadow; her special friends, Phyllis and Roger Brillant of Londonderry, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Irene Lee Moyers Chase and sister of the late Alice Horne.
A funeral service will be held privately. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly.
