Gordon S.'s Story
Gordon S. Miller, 94, husband of the late Virginia C. (Low) Miller, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by family.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Remsen) Miller.
He received his education in the Beverly school system and graduated from Beverly High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy.
Mr. Miller had been employed as a mechanic for GTE Sylvania until the time of his retirement. Prior to that he had worked as a supervisor for Gloucester engineering and as a general foreman for 32 years at the United Shoe Machine Corporation in Beverly.
A lifelong resident of Beverly, he enjoyed wintering in Bradenton, Fla.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Bartman and her husband, James of Danvers; four sons, Gordon Miller and his wife, Linda of Waldoboro, Maine, Paul Miller and his wife, Judith of Rochester, N.H., Brian Miller and his wife, Brenda of Beverly and Steven Miller and his wife, Donna of Wilmington; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Lloyd Miller and Marjorie Pedersen.
Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
