Gayle O’Brien (Learoyd) sadly died March 17, 2017.
Gayle grew up in Wenham, Mass., and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Barbara Learoyd and the cherished sister of John (Jay) Learoyd. She graduated from Beverly High and attended Westbrook College. Gayle married her former husband, James O’Brien, and moved to Pennsylvania where they raised their family. Gayle was a devoted mother to her two children, Kierstin Brown (O’Brien) and Christopher O’Brien, now both residing in Elizabeth, Ind. Gayle was also a lover of dogs and spent most of her childhood and adult life with several dogs that were always considered members of her family.
When retirement age came, Gayle moved to Bonita Springs, Fla., to be closer to her parents and to oversee their health needs and end-of-life care. She was a caregiver and if you were her friend, you were blessed. Recently, with her health failing, Gayle moved to Indiana to be close to her children. She was truly overjoyed to be able to be with her children, and it was one of the happiest times in her life. We will always remember Gayle’s smile, spirit, and her loving habit of unconsciously humming, a trait that she inherited from her mother.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 27 in Danvers, Mass. Please contact John Learoyd (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
