Francis J.'s Story
Francis J. Gill, Jr., 89, of Milford passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 with his family at his side in St. Patrick’s Manor, in Framingham. He was the husband of the late Catherine G. (Fitzgerald) Gill, who died in 2014.
Mr. Gill was employed for over 30 years at the former Barry – Wright Corp. in Brighton.
He was born in 1928 in Marlborough, the son of the late Francis J. and Marguerite (Hutch) Gill, Sr. He graduated from high school in Medford and attended Wentworth Institute in Boston. He also served in U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Frank was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed camping and family outings. He was also a loving grandfather. He possessed a strong Catholic faith and was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Milford.
He is survived by his children, Francis J. Gill, III and John F. Gill, both of Milford, and Sandra Gill Benson and her husband, Paul, of Salem; two brothers, John Gill of Chuluota, FL and James Gill of Millinocket, Maine; two grandchildren, Colleen and Maura Benson, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marguerite Hamilton.
The family thanks the nurses and staff at Milford Regional Medical Center, St. Patrick’s Manor and Metrowest Home Care & Hospice for all their care and compassion.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12 p.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 19 Winter St., Milford.
