Florence A.'s Story

Florence A. (Plante) Owsiak, 83, wife of the late Peter J. Owsiak, died Sunday, June 11, 2017, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Newburyport on June 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ovila and Yvonne (Cote) Plante. She was predeceased by her husband on June 12, 2008.
Florence loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her greatest joy was to give others delight through her music as a pianist. She was better known as the “Party Pianist”. Her first composing achievement at age 16 titled, “We’re on the Merry Go Round,” was enjoyed for many years throughout her circle of friends and family along with many other tunes she penned. She also enjoyed writing special occasion pieces for private parties and entertained at elderly facilities in her later years with tunes of oldies but goodies. In her earlier years, one might hear her playing the organ at Saint Stanislaus Parish on Sundays.
Her last stop in life was at Cable Gardens in Ipswich where she resided for the past several years. The residents there also benefited from her entertainment as she was not shy about introducing new ideas to liven up a party through her gift of music. When she was not playing the piano, she was dealing a good hand of poker. She also enjoyed many hobbies such as making accessories for her grandchildren, jewelry making, babysitting, and politics where she helped to establish Concerned Citizens of Ipswich. She loved to ice skate and to swim on our north shore beaches. Many of her inspirations came from her time on the water, such as her song, “Strolling Along the Beach in Old New England”. Her spunk, enthusiasm, and ability to make others laugh will be very much missed. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who knew how to appreciate life, roll with the punches and had great faith in the Lord.

Florence is survived by her 4 children and their spouses: Diane and Randy Brown of Plymouth, Peter and Lori Owsiak of Beverly, Karen and Stewart Blessington of Ipswich, Janet and Ricky Speller of Tewksbury. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren: Stew, Kate, Tiffany, Rebekah, Ruth, Rachel, Sarah and Asha and by her sister Eleanor Languirand of Saugus.
A funeral service for Florence was privately held.
