Elliott E.'s Story
Mr. Elliott E. Hewitt, 84, loving husband of the late Mary R. (Holt) Hewitt, died Wednesday, March 23, 2017, at home. Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Harry and Madeline (Childs) Hewitt. He was a graduate of Peabody High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Navy.
Mr. Hewitt was a real estate developer, having built hundreds of homes on the North Shore. He built houses with his brother, Duddy and his son-in-law, Danny for 25 years. Son, Gary was the machine operator.
He was an avid New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed boating and the water.
A resident of the town of Hamilton since 1966, he was devoted to his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Roberts and husband, Daniel of Nottingham, N.H.; three sons, Gary and William Bona of Hamilton, and Elliott E. Hewitt, Jr. of West Peabody; three grandchildren, Shayne Ostrowski and husband, Mark of Hamilton, Jeremy Roberts and wife, Allyn of Jackson, N.H., and Emily Hewitt of Peabody; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Hunter Roberts, James and Colby Ostrowski; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Sharon Hewitt, a brother, Harry “Duddy” Hewitt, and a sister, Phyllis Dearborn.
Funeral services will be held at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Thursday, March 29, 2017, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
