Elizabeth M. (Andrews)'s Story
Elizabeth M. (Andrews) Rathe, 80, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 10, 2017 following a lengthy illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Norman Rathe, and the daughter of the late Irving Andrews and Eliza (Andreozzi) Poussard.
Born in Ipswich, Elizabeth attended the Ipswich public schools and met her beloved husband Norman at the young age of 16. They wed just a few years later and shared 53 years of marriage together.
Elizabeth worked at the Hayward Hosiery and Soffrons of Ipswich. She was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Hope and enjoyed boating, gardening, knitting, traveling, and spending time with her family. Elizabeth leaves behind a son, Norman Rathe, Jr. and his wife Anne, of Nottingham, N.H.; a daughter, MaryBeth Neenan, and her husband Paul, of Ipswich; seven grandchildren: Tabatha Allard; Ryan, Paul and Danielle Rathe; Meghan, Jessica, and Amy Neenan. She also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Leila and Ty Allard; a sister, Donna Hopping of Feeding Hills; a brother, Irving Andrews of Ipswich, and was predeceased by a sister, Jean Lynch. Elizabeth also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Ipswich, on Tuesday, February 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich on Wednesday February 15, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Elizabeth’s name to the Parkinson’s Foundation @ parkinsons.org or mail to Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st.
