Elizabeth (DeRienzo)'s Story
Mrs. Elizabeth (DeRienzo) Cataldo 88, formerly of Middleton, beloved wife of the late Philip Cataldo, died Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Bear Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation in Stoneham.
Born in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Cesira (Guarini) DeRienzo. She was raised and educated in East Boston.
Mrs. Cataldo was devoted to her family. She took immense pride in providing a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She was ultimately proud of all her families’ accomplishments and was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle and Shae. Her life was full of love and her devotion to her family was true. She will be deeply missed.
A resident of the Town of Middleton for over 54 years, she was well known throughout her “Brigadoon” neighborhood where she could be found strolling on a daily basis. An avid animal lover, she had many canine companions over the years.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Judith A. Reynolds and her husband, William of Wakefield; her sons, Stephen D. Cataldo of Rowley and Michael L. Cataldo and his wife, Theresa of Groveland; her grandchildren, Nicole and Danielle Cataldo and Shae Reynolds; her sisters, Lucy DeWart of Saugus, Netta DeWart of Saugus, Anna Redmond of Stoneham and Lena Zagarella of Natick; her brothers, Tony DeRienzo of Lunenburg and Victor DeRienzo of Jacksonville, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Olga Martinec and brothers, Angelo, Vincent, Richard, and Raymond DeRienzo.
Her Funeral Service will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Route 62), Danvers, Wednesday, August 9, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Visiting hours Tuesday, August 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
