Edward W. McDonough &'s Story
Edward William McDonough and Claire (Martel) McDonough were born and raised in Lynn. Both attended Lynn schools. Edward left Lynn Tech to serve in the Navy during WWII. Claire worked at GE in Lynn after graduating from St. Mary’s. Married on June 28, 1947, they raised a family of seven children, and were co-owners of McDonough’s Wrought Iron & Fence Co. of Salem. They moved to Florida in 1981 and enjoyed many wonderful years of retirement together. Edward passed away March 16, 1996. Claire lived on in Spring Hill until her death on December 15, 2016. They are survived by seven loving children, Joyce M. McDonough of Rochester, N.Y., Jeffrey McDonough of Beverly, Julie A. McDonough of Salem, Janice R. McDonough of Dartmouth, Jody B. McDonough (Robert Rosata) of Scituate, Jacquie Coté (Todd Burton) of Albuquerque, and Jennifer McDonough (David Barnaby), Albuquerque, N.M. They also leave six grandchildren, Emma Griffin, Alicia McDonough, Sydney Hawes, Cameron Rosata, Oriana McDonough and April Burton; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Martel of Temecula, Calif., and Robert Martel of Bullhead, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
