Douglas Fraser MacLean, a long-time resident of Marblehead, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 6, 2017, at the age of 45. Born in Salem on January 13, 1972, he was the son of Malcolm MacLean III and Deborah (Eagan) MacLean of Swampscott. Doug was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School with the Class of 1990. He went on to graduate from Harvard University in 1994 before attaining his JD/MBA from Cornell University in 2000. On November 10, 2001, Doug married Hadley A. Carlson in New Marlborough, Mass., and the couple settled in Marblehead. Doug was a successful lawyer and the founder of Armor Compliance, which operated out of both Boston and Marblehead. Doug was a fierce competitor and trained hard to compete in 43 marathons as well as the Iron Man Triathlons. Through all his life’s endeavors, nothing compared to the love and dedication he had for his wife and children. His greatest joy was watching his daughter beautifully dance or all of his children competing hard in the sports they so love. In addition to his wife and parents, Doug leaves his children, Grace H.C., Graham E., and James K. and Phinneas W. MacLean, all of Marblehead; his brother, Malcolm F. MacLean IV and his wife, Mimi of Los Angeles, Calif.; his nieces and nephews, Malcolm F. MacLean V, Gretchen E., W. Tucker, Kathryn M. and Lilly C.
