Donald "Donnie" Ellis White, 78, of Doetown Road, Rumney, died February 6, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Concord, N.H., on November 11, 1938, he was the son of William and Florence (Morgan) White.
He grew up in Penacook, N.H. and at the age of six he moved to Beverly. He resided in Beverly for many years and has been a permanent resident of Rumney since 1990. Donnie worked all his life as an auto mechanic. While residing in Beverly, he worked at Montseratt Service Station where he built the reputation of being one of the best mechanics in Beverly. After building his dream home and moving to Rumney with his wife, he continued working at what he did best - being the best mechanic he could be at Tenney Mountain Auto, Bartlett Motors, and finally at Central Metal. And when he wasn't working he tinkered in his shed with his ever faithful friend, Leon, graded/plowed/sanded the back roads of the Town of Ellsworth and those of his friends and neighbors. Donnie was predeceased by his brother, William E. White and his sister, Barbara Keator. Donnie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth M. (Dunklee) White of Rumney, his daughter, Pamela J. Rogers and her husband, David of Haverhill; his grandchildren, Christopher B. Rogers of Tucson, Ariz. and Kaitlyn M. Rogers of Wilmington; his great-granddaughter, Kylie Ellis Begin, his sister, Betty Bethune of Naples, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Pemi-Baker Home Health and Hospice, 101 Boulder Point Drive, Plymouth, N.H. 03264.
In lieu of services, a Celebration of Life cookout will be held at a later date.
