Dee L.'s Story
Dee L. Cote passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday evening, February 3.
Dee was the loving husband of Jill Cote, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage, and the devoted father of Heather and Samantha Cote. Dee also leaves his cherished dog, Seamus. Dee is also survived by his mother, Sally Flint. Dee especially enjoyed the company of his many sisters and brothers-in-law.
Dee was born in Southington, Connecticut and was raised in Salem, Mass., however, Maine also held a special place in his heart, where he spent many summers with his family. Dee was educated in the Salem schools and was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
Dee's extreme passion was anything to do with real estate and restoring period homes. Dee and his family also ran a bed and breakfast known as The Inn at 7 Winter Street for many years. He had a gift of gab and loved meeting new people, and always welcomed those he loved into his home. He was often the life of any party.
Dee was currently working as an outside designer sales consultant for U.S. Remodelers, a division of Home Depot Interiors.
There will be a memorial service for him at St. Anne's Church on Jefferson Avenue on Friday, February 10, at 11 a.m. Services were rescheduled from February 9 due to snowstorm. A celebration of his life will follow where friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Historic Salem, Inc., historicsalem.org, two organizations that reflect Dee's highest passions.
