David A.'s Story
David A. Hoyt, age 63, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on April 22, 2017. He was the son of the late Clifton L. Hoyt, Sr. and Shirley E. Webster. Born in Haverhill, Dave graduated from Haverhill Trade School in 1972. He worked for Foss Manufacturing in Bradford, Mass., for many years and also Hogan Regional Center in Danvers, until his retirement. Dave was a proud member of AFSCME Local 1730, where he served a term as vice president.
Dave was a longtime resident of Merrimac, Mass., and was active in the community. He took great pride in coaching youth softball and baseball and spent countless hours on the field as well as in the concession stand. After retirement, he enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren and always looked forward to traveling to his favorite spot, a certain front porch rocking chair in Tennessee. He was an avid Boston sports fan.
Dave is survived by his six children, David A. Hoyt, Jr. and his wife, Dawn of Newmarket, N.H., Christopher Hoyt of Peabody, Danielle Hoyt of Dorchester, Jennifer Adams and her husband, Tyler of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Heather Hannon and her husband, Jeremy of Sandown, N.H., Jamie Allen and her husband, Chris of Lowell; two sisters, Lucille Hoyt of Salem, N.H., Linda Siebe of Texas; ten grandchildren, Connor, Eugene, Destiny, Oliver, Jordyn, Collin, Chloe, Colton, Kaleigh, Brandon and one on the way; best friends, Paula and Jay Drinkwater and their family of Beverly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clifton L. Hoyt, Jr.
Visitation will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home at 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Tuesday, April 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be held on at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 552 Cabot St., Beverly on Wednesday, April 26 at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
