Clarke F.'s Story
Clarke F. Peters, 91, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of his wonderful wife, Ida E. (LeBel) Peters.
Born in Salem on July 11, 1925, he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Martin) Peters.
Clarke was employed as a master electrician at GTE Sylvania for 21 years before retiring in 1986. He had also once worked at Reid Brothers in Beverly for many years. He was a member of the Vittori-Rocci Post #56 of Beverly and a longtime parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church. Clarke was an avid golfer and enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling and doing wood crafting.
In addition to his wonderful wife of nearly 23 years, he is survived by his two grandchildren, Fred Erwin and his wife, Christene of Tampa, Fla., and Judith Erwin of Manchester-by-the-Sea; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Erwin; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Fred Erwin; three brothers, Frank Peters, Jr., Edmund Peters and Joseph O’Brien; one sister, Adeline Richards; and his first wife, Pearl (Baker) Peters.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly at 12 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in Central Cemetery.
