Catherine F.'s Story
Mrs. Catherine F. (Nannery) Rafferty, 94, of Danvers, formerly of Lynn, died Monday at her home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Dr. Edward T. Rafferty, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage, as well as the late Frederick J. Carr.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Murphy) Nannery. She was raised in Fall River, and had lived in Lynn for the greater part of her life, before moving to Danvers in 2013. She was a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy in Fall River, and LaSalle College.
Catherine ran her husband’s medical office for many years. She was a volunteer at Lynn Hospital, and in her younger years was a Girl Scout troop leader. She was a member of the Infant of Prague Society and the Guild of St. William at St. John’s Prep.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her six children, Brenda Howard and her husband, James of Plainville, Mass., Gail Carr of Framingham, Catherine Carey and her husband, Craig of Danvers, Ellen Tansey and her husband, Philip of Danvers, James Rafferty of Phoenix, Ariz., and Thomas Rafferty and his wife, Marissa of Ipswich; as well as nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 30, at 10 a.m. from the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Route 1A), Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectively invited. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Holy Union Sisters Mission Advancement, P.O.
