Carol M.'s Story
Carol M. Kennedy, 76, of Marblehead, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 15, 2017. She was the widow of Jerome R. Kennedy, who predeceased her in 1992. She was a proud lifelong "header," born and raised in Marblehead, the daughter of the late H. Edward and Marie Martin.
Carol graduated from Marblehead High School in the Class of 1958. She then went to the Wilfred Academy of Beauty in Boston. After graduating, she worked at Jean's Beauty Salon until opening Carol's Beauty Shop, which she owned and operated for 20 years. Her favorite activities were volunteering in the nursery at her church, babysitting for family and friends, bowling, knitting, and traveling the world, but her absolute favorite activity was being around her family. She was a longtime member of the Grace Community Church as well as the Harbor Women Club. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her cat, Isabella.
Carol is survived by her two daughters, Christine Sasso and her husband, Mark and Cynthia Stensrud and her husband, Matthew; her two grandchildren, Christopher Kennedy and his partner, Tobi Lew and their children, Liam, Chloe, Chase and Jack, and Mandy James and her boyfriend, Chris Hernandez. She also leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Chris Martin, as well as several nieces, nephews, and their children on the Martin and Hamson sides of the family.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, April 22 at 11 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 17 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, followed by a gathering at the Gerry 5, 210 Beacon Street, Marblehead. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to both events. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Grace Community Church, St. Jude's Research Hospital, the Marblehead Animal Shelter or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Eustis and Cornell of Marblehead. Please visit the online guestbook at www.eustisandcornellfuneralhome.com.
