Anna M. (Finnegan)'s Story

Anna M. (Finnegan) Kenny, age 88, of Peabody, died Thursday, September 14, 2017, in Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late George E. Kenny, Jr. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Patrick and Catherine M. (Graham) Finnegan. She was raised in Peabody and Lynn and lived in Peabody since 1952. Anna was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School, Class of 1947 and Salem Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1950.
A registered nurse, Anna worked in the emergency room at Salem Hospital, as well as at the office of Dr. David Martini. After her retirement, she volunteered in the Salem Hospital Emergency Room. She loved her work as a nurse and was a natural caregiver. She had a wonderful sense of humor and brought a smile to everyone she met. She was mischievous, fun-loving, and enjoyed a good laugh. She will also be remembered as a caring, thoughtful, wise woman. She was loved by everyone who met her. Anna, otherwise known as Nana or Deeda, was crazy about her grandchildren and was very much a part of their lives. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Hall and her husband, Fletcher of Salem; three sons, Michael Kenny of Peabody, Shawn Kenny and his wife, Angel of West Newfield, Maine, and Steven Kenny of Madison, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Caroline Hall and her partner, Evan LaPorte, Benjamin Hall and his partner, Jake Yuzna, Erin Kenny and her partner, Jason O’Tash, Gregory Kenny and his partner, Nikki Taylor, Christopher Kenny, Michelle Kenny and her partner, Pearson Souther, Ashley Marshall, Amanda Ryan and her partner, Josh Brown and Ryan Kenny; eight great-grandchildren; as well as her nieces, Maryellen “Mae” DeLuca and her husband, Anthony “Skip” DeLuca, Judith DesFosses and her husband, Tom DesFosses, Susan Chick; many other nieces and nephews; and countless friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Wentzell, Barbara Crocker and Catherine Marion Finnegan.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the funeral.
