Ann Janet "Nancy"'s Story
Ann Janet “Nancy” McCarthy, 82, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2017, at High Point Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
Daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Manning) Brault and wife of Jack McCarthy Jr., Nancy was born in Salem and was a graduate of St. James School. After graduating from Salem High School, she married Jack and raised her family. She worked at Salem Hospital as a nursing assistant on Phippin 7 for most of her 20-year career and retired in the mid 1980s. Nancy greatly enjoyed the outdoors; hiking, biking, and running.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Jack McCarthy, Jr. of Newburyport (formerly of Salem); her daughter, Kristin McCarthy and her husband, Steven Hickey of Shutesbury; her grandson, Jarad Settles of Beverly; her granddaughter, Jessica Settles of Barre, Vt.; her sister, Carol Foley and her husband, James of Haverhill; her sister, Sally Leblanc of Peabody; her stepgranddaughter, Erin Walsh of Andover; her stepgrandson, Michael Hickey of Shutesbury; her step-granddaughter, Megan Lennox of Keyport, Wash.; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Karin Settles.
An hour of public visitation will take place on Friday, August 11, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North Street), Salem, MA 01970, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., also at the Murphy Funeral Home.
