Andrew G.'s Story
Andrew G. Nikas, 47, passed away unexpectedly at his home Monday evening, February 13, 2017. Born in Beverly on November 11, 1969, he was the son of Joanne Brown and the late George A. Nikas.
Andrew was a graduate of Ipswich High School, Class of 1987. He played hockey and was captain of the team. He was employed as a manager of the 99 Restaurant in Salem. While in Salem he became involved with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem. He received the Volunteer of the Year award from the club. He would become a licensed contractor, and he owned his own company, Premier Builders. Andrew was a loving father, son, brother and friend.
Andrew is survived by his four sons, William, Kyle, Bentley and Finley; his mother, Joanne Brown; and his two sisters, Leigh Flaherty and Randall Nikas. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Edward “Ted” Flaherty; and his two nephews, Edward “Eddie” Flaherty and Patrick Flaherty. Andrew was also predeceased by his beloved maternal grandparents, Marshall and Virginia Brown.
A memorial funeral service will be held Saturday, February 18, at 2 p.m. at the Ascension Memorial Episcopal Church, 31 Country Street, Ipswich. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held Friday, Feb. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street.
