PEABODY, MA - William F. "Bill" Tracchia, 83, of Peabody, loving husband of Alice H. (Connelly) Tracchia, passed away at Care One, in Peabody, on Sunday, February 18, 2018, with his family at his side.
Bill was born in Peabody on September 12, 1934, son of the late Philip and Mary (Russell) Tracchia. Raised and educated in Peabody, he graduated from Peabody High School, and was a lifelong resident.
Bill was employed by the City of Peabody as a heavy equipment operator, a position he held until his retirement. His biggest joy in life were his family, and later on he enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Bill relished celebrating his Irish heritage and traveled to Ireland seven times. He loved cooking, and a favorite of the family was his grandmother's ravioli recipe. He enjoyed woodworking, and built a cherished family grandfather clock.
In addition to his wife Alice with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, he is survived by his children and their spouse, Dianne Dumas, and her partner, Michael Provencher, Patricia A., and James Dumas, and William F. Tracchia Jr., and Julie Tracchia, all of Peabody; his cherished grandchildren, Kevin Dumas, and his wife, Bethany, Patrick Dumas, Michelle Dumas, William Tracchia, and Nicholas Tracchia; two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Charlotte Dumas; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Little, of Salem, Kathleen Connelly, of Peabody, and Lorraine Connelly, of Plum Island; and many special nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Quintin, Phil, and Barry Tracchia; and two brothers-in-law, Daniel Connelly, and Phil Little.
The family would also like to express their heart felt gratitude to the caring staff at Care One.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 21, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody.
