William's Story

William Doug Reid, 100 years old, of Beverly, died February 14, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Arlene E. (Nicholas) Reid. He was born in Boston. He was the son of the late John and Margaret (McGinn) Reid. He was a graduate of Beverly High School Class of 1935.
He worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad as a Treasurer from 1935 to 1981. He was a member of Dane Street Congregational church in Beverly and a member at Beverly Golf and Tennis for many years
He enjoyed going to Dubes Restaurant every Tuesday in Salem for over fifty years with his golf buddies.
Surviving him are his sons, Gordon D. Reid and his wife Claire of Beverly, James M. Reid of Gloucester, William S. Reid of Peabody; four grandchildren, Sherri Duncan and husband William, Kathleen Marietti and husband Miles, Whitney Ollila and husband John and Alan A. Reid; three great grandchildren, Antonio, Milan, Carmen; three nieces, Cynthia Erickson, Debra Fatello, Carol Malloy. He was predeceased by a brother James Reid; a sister Mary Shea.
His graveside service will be held on Wednesday February 21, 2018 in North Beverly Cemetery at 1p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA 01915. Contributions may be made in his name to Special Olympics Massachusetts
