William R.'s Story
MARBLEHEAD - William R. Gadala, of Marblehead, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 after a long, hard fought battle with heart disease. He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie (Kowalski), with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.
Born in Salem, he resided there for many years and graduated from Salem High School in 1965. After graduation he joined the Navy and served during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, Willie was a lobsterman for many years on several local boats including the Stella Z. He was passionate about sports and played baseball and softball on many local teams. He loved the Red Sox and the Miami Dolphins.
He also leaves a sister, Michelle Johnson, a son Michael, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael L. Gadala and Georgette (Charest) Gadala.
A memorial service will be held in the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, on Saturday, March 3 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
