William H.'s Story
William H. Richards, 94, longtime resident of Beverly and the loving husband of the late Beatrice E. (Grant) Richards, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage, died peacefully Thursday morning at the Ledgewood Nursing Home in Beverly. Born in Ipswich, he was the son of the late John R. and Evangeline (Booth) Richards. Bill was a World War II Army veteran and throughout his life, an auto mechanic. He enjoyed numerous cross-country motorcycle trips with his wife, Bea, as well as trips to New Hampshire, Canada, and Lake George. Bill was known for his quick wit and his love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Karen Dennis and her husband, Larry of Nottingham, N.H., William H. Richards, Jr. and his partner, Mary Ellen Nichols of Beverly, John R. Richards and his wife, Mabeth of Beverly, and Carol Morris of Peabody; one brother, Gordon Richards and his wife, Diana of Montana; nine grandchildren, Lori Saporta of Idaho, John Longval, Jr. of New Hampshire, Lisa Mazon of Virginia, Cheri-lyn Suydam of Nevada, Amanda Richards of Beverly, Jennifer dos Santos of Danvers, Tiffany Morris of Peabody, Heather Morris of Rockland, and Brandi-Lyn Morris of Peabody; great-grandsons, Alex and Kai and many other great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives in Canada. Bill is also remembered by a fifth child and that child’s family, who wish him peace and a safe journey. In addition to his wife, Bea, he was predeceased by his brothers, Arnold, Harold, and Harland; sisters, Dorothy and Alva; and grandson, Brian D. Richards.
