William H. "Bill"'s Story
William H. Kirby, 72 of Peabody, passed away on September 11, 2017, in the Care One facility in Peabody after a long illness. Born in Providence, R.I., on November 26, 1944, he was the son of the late Madonna (Kirby) O’Brien and William A. Kirby. Bill was also preceded in death by his step-father, Paul F. O’Brien. He leaves his sister, Donna (Kirby) Sullivan of Marblehead; his niece, Susan (Sullivan) Herlihy of Winchester; and his nephew, David W. Sullivan of Greenwich, Conn. Several grandnieces and grandnephews also survive him. Bill was a graduate of Georgetown University and also received his law degree from Suffolk University. Bill was formerly employed as an IRS Tax Specialist in Washington, D.C., and later with the Department of Energy in Boston. In his spare time, Bill loved to delve in to various books on history, government and politics. The ultimate gentleman, Bill enjoyed time spent with his loving family. Bill’s family is forever thankful for all the support he received from the staff of his day program at Element Care of Lynn. They brought such joy to his life.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady, Star of the Sea, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, MA, on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 11 a.m. Interment services will be held privately.
