William B.'s Story
William Bertram Harwood, 90, beloved husband of 59 years to Jane A. (Herrick) Harwood, died on Sunday, August 20, 2017, surrounded by his family at The Kaplan House.
Born and raised in Saugus, Mass., on April 28, 1927, he later moved to Beverly where they raised their family. He was the son of the late Louis B. and Mildred L. Harwood.
William Harwood served in the Coast Guard during the ending days of World War II. He was employed by Boston Blue Print and Charrette as a cameraman where he retired in 1992. He enjoyed many years of leisure time in Fryeburg, Maine and Sanbornville, N.H., extended travel with his wife and family events for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved taking photographs and enjoyed musical interests with the violin and organ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David W. and his wife, Dawn L. Harwood of Shapleigh, Maine and James S. and his wife, Leanne Harwood of Beverly; three grandsons, Gregory J. and his wife, Alexice J. Harwood, Brian D. Harwood and his fiancée, Corine Kennedy, Maine and Trevor W. Harwood and his fiancée, Lindsay Davis; three great-granddaughters, Mackenzie, Madelyn and Brenna; also several nieces and nephews.
William’s funeral service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Friday, August 25, 2017, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in the North Beverly Cemetery.
