Warren T.'s Story

Warren T. McCannon, Jr., age 88, of Swampscott, passed away peacefully at Salem Hospital on Friday, November 10, 2017 with his family by his side.
He was born on May 16, 1929 in Swampscott the son of the late, Warren T. McCannon, Sr. and Ellen (Smith). He was raised and educated in Swampscott and graduated from Swampscott High School. Warren had worked for GE River Works as a turbine assembler for over 45 years. He retired in February 1997.

He was an avid football fan who loved Notre Dame and Boston College. He was a season’s ticket holder at Boston College for many years. Warren had a green thumb and loved to spend time taking care of his backyard garden. He enjoyed taking trips to Hawaii with friends. Above all else, Warren truly loved being a grandfather and spoiling his grandchildren.
Warren is survived by his daughters, Candace “Candy” Pellegrini and spouse, Edward of Somerville, Brenda Nardiello of Swampscott and Heather Hannigan and spouse, Edward of Merritt Island, Fla.; his son, Shawn McCannon and his fiancee, Julie Klusza of Swampscott. His sister, Mary McCannon of Swampscott, his brother, Paul McCannon and spouse, Lucille “Lucy” of Swampscott. His grandchildren; Joseph and Edward Pellegrini, Matthew Nardiello, and Zackary, Kali and Raina Hannigan and his great-grandson, Damien Pellegrini. He was predeceased by his spouse, Mary C. (Howlett) McCannon and his brother, Richard “Dick” McCannon. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mr. McCannon’s visitation on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904. His funeral will begin on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 174 Humphrey Street in Swampscott. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery.
