Walter D.'s Story
Beverly - Walter D. Welsh 79, beloved husband of Donna (Coleman) Welsh, died Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Robert and Alma (Danforth) Welsh. He continued his education earning a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.
Mr. Welsh had been employed for many years as a foreman for the Laborer’s Union Local #609 in Framingham until the time of his retirement.
A resident of Beverly for the past 40 years, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Walter Welsh Council in Provincetown.
In addition to his wife with whom he shared 30 years of marriage, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Basaglia of Sudbury; a son, David Welsh of Florida; six grandchildren, Anthony, Jennifer, Janelle, Julianne, Jim and David; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Mary Welsh of Calif., and Alma Swanson of Provincetown; two brothers, Robert Welsh and his wife, Natalie of Dennis, and Charles Welsh and his wife, Liz of Provincetown. He was also the brother of the late Ann Welsh.
His funeral service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
