BEVERLY - Thomas E. Heffernan, age 64, died Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danvers, after a long illness. Born in Beverly, he was the son of Marie Jean (LaPorte) Heffernan, and the late James C. Heffernan. He attended Beverly public schools and Beverly High School.
He worked as a Project Manager at Aulson Construction for many years and at Columbus Bakery, and the Italian Community Club in Beverly. He loved his family and friends, especially adored his nephews and nieces. He was an avid motorsports fan, having traveled to Watkins Glen for motor cross and NASCAR races, and traveled to Daytona for speed weeks, and the 500. He was a natural humorist, and had a wonderful sense of humor, being blessed with Irish wit, and the gift of gab. He loved scratch tickets, was a huge fan of all Boston sports, and never missed watching a Pats game. Tom was a beloved friend of so many.
Surviving him is a brother, James C. Heffernan, and his wife, Christine, of North Reading; three sisters, Debra Heffernan of Magnolia, Sally (Heffernan) Mugherini, and her husband, Neal, of Newbury Mass., and Key West, Fla., Barbara (Heffernan) Kiesinger, and her husband, Lonnie, of Ft. Myers, Fla; several nieces and nephews; and dear longtime friend, Nancy Josselin.
Visitation will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Saturday, February 3, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Thomas' name can be made to Care Dimensions at www.give.caredimensions.org.
