Thelma I.'s Story

Thelma I. (Forney) Churchill, 95, passed away on May 24, 2017 at Sutton Hill Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Churchill, Jr.
Born in Nebraska on May 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James and Thelma (Van Nyvel) Forney. She was raised and educated in Nebraska. Thelma had resided in Danvers for over 55 years and had been a member of the Holy Trinity Methodist Church for many years. She had been employed by Lorraine Roy Dress Shop in Danvers for many years as a dressmaker and tailor. Thelma was a wonderful baker and made many pies, cinnamon rolls and jams for the church fairs and her friends and family to enjoy.
Thelma was a loving and kind woman with a gentle spirit. She enjoyed reading, animals, bingo and corresponding with family and friends. She enjoyed being a homemaker and her family was always her first priority.
She is survived by three children, Susan Conant and her husband, Roger of East Bridgewater, Cynthia Churchill of North Andover and Kent Churchill and his wife, JoAnn of Ossipee, two grandchildren, Jesse and Samantha Conant and a great-grandson, Adin and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Edward F. Churchill, III, and her siblings, John and Bob Forney and Iris Homolka.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in the Holy Trinity Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Holten Cemetery, Danvers. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Thelma’s name to the Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA, 02215.
