Thelma G. (Mazzotti)'s Story
Thelma G. (Mazzotti) Corning, 99, of Santa Fe, N.M., formerly of Wenham and Beverly, Mass., passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield, Mass. She was the beloved wife of the late Wenham Police Lt. Frank A. Corning Jr. Born in Beverly, she was the dear daughter of the late Jack and Virginia (Zavagli) Mazzotti. She was raised and educated in Beverly.
Thelma was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Wenham for 15 years. After retiring to Santa Fe, she volunteered for the Museum of New Mexico and, for 25 years, for the St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving her are two daughters, Maureen C. Field and her husband, William of Santa Fe, N.M., and Judith A. Corning-Padilla of Santa Fe, N.M.; one son, Brian F. Corning and his wife, Kathleen Pritchett-Corning of Boxford; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Field, Katherine Field (Rick Winslow), Benjamin Dooling (Lauren), Meghan Gordon (Grady), Alexis Corning-Padilla, Samuel and Carter Corning; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Tsosie, Rowan Gordon, and Kingston Dooling. She was also the sister of the late Ida Nicolo, Yolanda Conti and Jack Mazzotti.
The family would like to give special and heartfelt thanks to each and every caregiver at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield, Mass., and to the compassionate services of Fidelis Hospice. Together, their loving care and and devotion allowed Thelma a peaceful passing.
Thelma’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA, on August 14, 2017, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will follow at Wenham Cemetery. Donations in Thelma’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary, P.O.
