IPSWICH - Star C. (Grimbilas) Johnson, 89, wife of the late Honorable Judge Thomas A. Johnson, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 2, 2018, in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness.
Born September 22, 1928, in Portsmouth, N.H., daughter of the late Christ and Adamantia (Coroneos) Grimbilas, she was raised in Portsmouth, and a 1945 graduate of Portsmouth High School.
Married in 1950, the Johnsons made their home and raised their family at her late Argilla Road address.
Mrs. Johnson attended the First Congregational Church in Hamilton, She was a member of the Ipswich Republican Town Committee, a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, the Women's Council at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, and was a trustee of the former Stephen Coburn Home for the Elderly in Ipswich. Most important to her always was her husband and loving family.
She is survived by a son, Thomas A. Johnson Jr. and his wife Melanie of Georgetown; three daughters, Deborah A. Johnson (Kotsiras) and her husband John Kotsiras of Rowley, Pamela A. Johnson of Haverhill and Stephanie Starlet Johnson of Ipswich: two grandchildren Alexis and Hunter Lane both of Georgetown; and many nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Peter and Nicholas Grimbilas both formerly of Portsmouth, N.H., George Grimbilas, formerly of Lynn, Demetra Vatistas and Andrewniki Houliares both formerly of Portsmouth, N.H.
Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 9, in the First Church in Ipswich, Meetinghouse Green Ipswich followed by interment in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours will be Thursday 5 to 8 p.m. in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich.
