Shirley F.'s Story
Shirley F. (Strope) Clark, 80, formerly of Arrowhead Trail, Ipswich, died Saturday in the Chestnut Woods Rehabilitation Center, Saugus following her long illness.
Born in Dixie, Ark., daughter of the late Leonard J. and Jewel D. (Schugg) Strope, she was raised in Arkansas where she married and raised her family. In 1985, she relocated to New England to be with her adult children. Shirley’s greatest joy was her loving family and her devotion to Christianity.
She is survived by a son, Therral E. Clark, Jr. and his wife, Sheila of Ipswich; two daughters, Catherine J. Credle-Clark and her wife, Shannon of Marblehead, Catrenia A. Joly and her husband, Sean of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Erin Libby of Henniker, N.H., Jillian Mason of Manchester, N.H., Lance Rickard of Georgetown, Brooke Rickard of Newbury; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeannie Marie Brown; and a brother, Leonard Strope, Jr., both of Missouri. She was the sister of the late Barbara Fleming and Virginia Pierce, both formerly of Arkansas.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by internment in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.
