Sheila M.'s Story
Sheila Mary Lynch (76) passed away peacefully with loved ones by hers side on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. She was born in 1941 to her mother Mary Rita Bradley and her father John Henry Lynch in Peabody.
Sheila grew up in Salem and attended Salem Public Schools. After graduating from Salem High School in 1959, she worked as a secretary at Willard Helipurn Leather Factory. She went on to work for Chief Sullivan at the Salem Police Department and then for Chief Brennan of the Salem Fire Department. She recently retired from St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody, where she worked as a secretary, served as Eucharistic Minister, and was fond of it’s Brazilian Community.
In 2006, she was awarded life membership in the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, an organization she was devoted to. She served many roles for the organization, most notably as Massachusetts State President, President of Division 18 Salem, and, up to the time of her passing, member of Division 10 Lynn.
Sheila is survived by her siblings: Joan M. Sweeney of Salem, Elizabeth (Beth) A. Lynch of Beverly, and John B. Lynch and his wife, Kathleen, of Wilmington; her nieces and nephews: Patricia (predeceased), Edward, John, Joseph, Brian, and Robert Sweeney, Joan Brennan, John Lynch, Maureen Costello, and Karen Scott; and many great-nephews and nieces.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home located on 85 Federal Street, Salem. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, located on 1 Margin Street, Peabody.
