Sandra (Hopping)'s Story
Sandra (Hopping) McIntyre Capozzi Carbone, 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at her residence in Ipswich after a long illness.
Born in Lynn, Mass., May 22, 1940, Sandra was a lifelong resident of the North Shore and lived most of her life in Beverly, where she raised her family and extended family. She was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1958. Sandra will always be remembered as having a heart of gold and someone who would give you the shirt off her back if you asked for it or would offer it to you if you looked like you just might need a little help. Recognized by the MDA for over 20 years as a volunteer and fundraiser she also provided emergency shelter in her home and more importantly provided her love for more than 30 foster children over a several year period. Sandra was a past and active member of the Italian Community Center in Beverly. She fully embraced her Italian heritage and fulfilled a lifelong dream by taking a trip to Italy, a 65th birthday present from her children.
She is sadly missed by and leaves behind her mother, Pauline (Desjardins) Taylor of Ipswich; her children, Mark McIntyre, Dana McIntyre, Ross McIntyre and Vale Capozzi; daughter-in-law, Cheryl McIntyre; grandchildren, Samantha, Dana E., Dante, James, Jennifer, John and Kaylee McIntyre; great-grandson, Braedon McIntyre; step- children, Albert Capozzi Jr., Victor, Nicolas, Susan, William and Michael Capozzi; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, step in-laws, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father, Arthur Hopping; her step-father, Philip Taylor; as well as her step children, Anthony Capozzi and Linda (Grimes) Capozzi.
A private memorial was held on Thanksgiving Day. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday, November 29, at 1:30 p.m. in the North Beverly Cemetery, (Route 97) 685 Cabot St., Beverly, followed by a reception at the family restaurant located at 507 Rantoul St., Beverly.
