Ronald J. Marshall, aged 70, passed away peacefully July 24th, 2017 while in hospice care at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Bedford.
Ron was born March 3, 1947 in Salem Hospital. He grew up in Peabody and attended Peabody schools. He resided in the North Shore area most of his life. Ron served in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge on March 10, 1967. He was a member of the American Legion of Salem.
Ron had a large circle of friends of all ages and from all walks of life. He was dearly loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed an active lifestyle and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He also had a deep love of the ocean and boating. Ron raced his cigarette boat “The Great Adventure” during the 1980’s. He was fascinated by the Viking culture and collected Viking motif art and décor. He enjoyed cooking and eating fine food and was happy to share a good meal with friends and family. Ron will be remembered for being a righteous and honorable man who stood up for what he believed in. He will be missed by the many whose lives he touched deeply.
Ron is predeceased by his mother, Doris (St. Pierre) Caulfield and stepfather, “Bud” Caulfield, his father, James J. Marshall and his brothers, Robert and Paul Marshall. He is survived by his daughter, Ronda Atkinson and her husband, Gregory and their three children, Sara, Liam, and Aidan; his son, Christian Day and his partner, Brian Cain; his son, Joshua Marshall and his children, Kloe Ann Marshall and Joshua Marshall Jr.; his brother, Tom Marshall and his wife, Elaine; his brother, Ken Marshall; his brother, Jamie Marshall and his partner, Susan Dufour; his sister, Gail Marshall and many nieces and nephews.
