Rodney T.'s Story
Rodney T. Larcom, 83, died Friday, October 20, 2017, in the Blueberry Hill Healthcare following a brief illness.
Born in Salem on October 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Carl P. and Alice (Thompson) Larcom. He was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1953. Rodney proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on October 14, 1956.
Rodney was employed as a jet engine tester at the General Electric Company, River Works Plant in Lynn for 32 years before his retirement in 1995. An avid sailor, he enjoyed his time on the ocean aboard his boat, “Valhalla”.
He is survived by his former spouse, Bonnie Larcom; his son, Christopher Larcom; three daughters, Kimberlee Kelso and husband, Tim, Michelle Larcom and her partner, Michael Kelly and Charlene Foss and her partner, Peter Bowden; six grandchildren, Ashley Josselin, Emily and Jon-Patrick Foss, Connor and Collin Gwynn and Brittany Larcom; three great-grandchildren, Madisyn and Cameron Mezzakowski and Chloe Jean Nunez; one brother, Carl Larcom and his wife, Georgette; his beloved extended family, Flo Evans, Donald Evans, Louann Evans Lafontant, Marissa Lafontant, Tyler Evans and Camryn Poole; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Caryl Shalkowski.
A sunset service will be held on Saturday, November 11, at Lynch Park, Beverly at 4:15 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life to be held at the Beverly-Salem Elks Lodge #1309, 39 Bow St., Beverly at 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Danielle Holmes Yagjian Foundation, 200 Boxford Rd., Rowley, MA 01969.
