Robert Thomas's Story
Robert Thomas Williams, 82, passed away peacefully August 21, 2017, in Beverly, Mass. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen M. (Curran) Williams.
He was born and raised in Taunton, Mass., son of the late Frederick J. and Catherine (Rafferty) Williams. He was a graduate of Coyle High School in Taunton and Providence College, Class of 1959.
He spent his career working in retail management. He was an avid sports fan, bird enthusiast, loved photography, and was a proud and life member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks No. 150. First and foremost, he loved family having grown up with seven siblings and having a family of his own. His most special times were when he was at the “cottage,” running track for Providence College, working at his father’s store and spending time with his granddaughter, Erin.
In addition to his wife, Kathleen whom he shared 56 years of marriage, he is survived by two sons, Robert T. Williams, Jr. and his husband, Benjamin Tsoi of New York, N.Y., and Christopher P. Williams of Beverly and his partner, Lisa Martinez; two daughters, Kathleen M. Williams of Belchertown, Mass., and Jane E. Williams of Beverly; a brother, Donald J. Williams of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Catherine McMann of Taunton and Jean Carter of The Villages, Fla.; a granddaughter, Erin K. (Russo) Ekin and her husband, Russell S. Ekin of Lake Stevens, Wash. He was predeceased by his brother, Frederick J. Williams, Jr.; and three sisters, Ruth King, Rita Carter and Mary Elizabeth Pero.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch Street, Beverly, on Friday, August 25, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly will be held on Thursday, August 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. Graveside burial will be held Saturday, August 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery located at 475 East Brittannia Street, Taunton.
