BEVERLY - Mr. Robert H. Mizzi, 94 years of Beverly, died at home unexpectedly on Monday, December 25, 2017. He was the husband of the late Rita J. (LaPointe) Mizzi, and companion of the late Nancy Johnson.
He was born in Beverly, the son of the late Conrad and Mary (Erwin) Mizzi. He was raised in Salem, attended Salem Schools and was a graduate of Essex Agricultural School. He lived in Danvers for 30 years and returned to Beverly in 2003.
He was a Navy veteran of four years during WWII and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Veragua Council 76 in Salem. He was involved in the Little League as a Coach and Manager for 50 years; starting in Salem coaching his son and ended with his induction in the Beverly Little League Hall of Fame. Mr. Mizzi was a machinist for the American Can Company for over 31 years until his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by his daughters, Janice Abdou of LeHigh Acres, Fla., Cynthia Boardman and her husband Daryl of Beverly, Pamela Kamitian and her husband, Peter of Ashland, Laura Haibon and her husband, Tom, Jr. of Beverly, his sons, Ronald D. Mizzi and his wife, Bobbie of Peabody, Wayne S. Mizzi and his wife Eydie of Seabrook, N.H. He also leaves 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. He was the brother and brother in law of the late Jeanette and Charles Berndt.
His funeral will be held on Saturday December 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
