Ipswich - Robert Como, local barber, died at home surrounded by his family on Monday, January 28, 2019. Born on May 5, 1937, in Ipswich, Massachusetts, at Cable Hospital, to parents Gordon and Adelle Como. After graduating from Ipswich High, Bob joined the Army, followed by Barber School. He opened his barbershop here in Ipswich, but to better support his growing family of six boys, he decided to close up the shop and take a new job while still practicing his trade for friends and family throughout the years.
Bob was always there to lend a hand to family or friend whether they needed a roof over their heard or helping the fire department raise funds to buy the life-saving equipment known as the “Jaws of Life.” He was a member of many local groups like: the Lions Club, American Legion, a board member of the Ipswich Housing Authority, Knights of Columbus, and served the town as a Call Fireman for 25 years.
He leaves his wife Sheila of 56 years; sons, Stephen (wife Linda), Raymond, Matthew, Paul (wife Valerie), Mark, and Jonathan (fiancée Jackie); his brothers, Gordon, Ronald (wife Linda), Allen, William; and sisters, Clara Hovey (husband Jere), and Mary Ann Presutti (husband Archilles). He also leaves his eight grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob was also predeceased by his sister Margret Cline; his brother John; and his daughter-in-law Virginia (wife of Raymond).
He will be missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich. To Sheila and The Family so sorry to hear of Bobs passing! He was one if not The Most Giving person I ever met. Always there to help in any way at anytime if he could---very rare in today's world. Bob and I go back to at least 1952---school,football,church, military etc. Bob and Sheila are Godparents to my son Douglas--for which I'll always be Thankful. May The Family take pride,in knowing that Bob certainly is in Heaven---if anybody ever deserved it! My love to all--Prayers for my Best Friend. Just a great guy---all these years. God Bless--Bob and The Family
