Salem - Mr. Raymond J. Kozlowski, of Salem, passed away on January 10, 2019 at his home, at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (White) Kozlowski for 63 years.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Ann (Burak) Gerardi and Bronislaw Kozlowski. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1951, where he captained both the varsity football and basketball teams during his senior year. He continued his education at Wentworth Institute in Boston.
Mr. Kozlowski began his long career with GTE Sylvania at their Loring Avenue Plant where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication for over 40 years, retiring in 1993 at the age of 58.
With a smile and a laugh upon retirement, Ray enjoyed socializing with his friends at morning coffee and afternoons at Winter Island. He also found time to be a jack-of-all trades in the home he and Nancy lived in for their entire married life.
Throughout his life, Ray was enthusiastic about sports at all levels, particularly basketball. In his younger days he enjoyed playing with his son and buddies in pick-up games at the Salem YMCA and Sunday mornings at Salem State. Ray was pleased that his entire family resided locally and that he was able to enjoy every-day life with them. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.
In addition to his high school sweetheart, Nancy, Ray is survived by his daughter, Kathy Ann Gilgun and her husband Larry of Salem, his son Ray Kozlowski Jr., his three grand-daughters, Kristin Voci and her husband Jason, Monica Hamilton and Allison Milford and her husband Michael, his precious great-grandchildren, Eziah Kozlowski and Isabella Voci. Ray was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Louise White, step-father Anthony Gerardi and his brother, Ronald Kozlowski.
