Ranald J. Brigham

Ranald J. Brigham Acton, Maine - Ranald J. Brigham, 87, of Acton, Maine, formerly longtime resident of High Street, Ipswich, died Monday, September 17, 2018, in the Southern Maine Medical Center, Sanford, following his brief illness. He was husband of Dorothy E. (Jewett) Brigham with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on June 19, 1931, son of the late James D. and Mary F. (Day) Brigham, he was raised in Gloucester where he attended public schools. During two years of the Korean War he served stateside in the Army, continuing to serve for two more years as a reservist. Following their marriage in 1953 they soon made their home and started their family in Hartford, Conn. In 1956, the Brighams relocated to upper High Street, Ipswich, where they raised their family and lived for many years. In retirement they moved to Port Charlotte, Fla., and then to Acton, Maine, in 1993.
Ranald and family enjoyed their many days boating in the waters of Ipswich Bay.
He and his wife also spent many years of their retirement traveling the states in their RV.
In addition to his wife Dorothy he is survived by six sons, Bruce Brigham and wife Laurel of Acton, Maine, Richard Brigham and fiancée Ann Minges of Fla., Ranald Brigham Jr. and wife Amy of Kingston, N.H., David Brigham and wife Karen of Georgetown, Paul Brigham and wife Wendy of Alfred, Maine, Elliot Brigham and wife Susan of Sangerville, Maine; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister Joyce Fowler.

Visiting hours will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, September 20, in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home at 6 High Street, Ipswich, followed by his funeral service at 12 p.m. Interment with military honors will be in the Main Street Cemetery, Rowley.
