Marblehead - Ralph M. Johnson, 83, of Marblehead, passed away on April 10, 2019, during a winter stay in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida.

Born in Beverly on January 25, 1936, Ralph was the only son among five sisters, to the late Mona and Foster Johnson.

Ralph graduated from Beverly High School in 1954, and then served in the United States Army as Military Police. Afterwards, he had a career working for Northeast Airlines, then Delta Airlines until his retirement in 1989.

An avid golfer, Ralph loved nothing more than being on the greens on a sunny day, driving his Titleist down the middle of the fairway. He also spent many languid days fishing with his family and friends at Redd's Pond in Marblehead.

Ralph is survived by his longtime committed partner, Paula Carroll, of Marblehead and his former wife, Thelma Johnson, of Beverly, with whom he has four children; Jodi Johnson of Beverly, Barry and wife Donna (sons Kyle and Casey) of Wenham, Sheri and husband David Carnevale (sons Ryan, Brendan, and Devin) of Beverly, and Todd (son Nico and his mother Monica) of Beverly. Ralph's partner, Paula, has two children; William Carroll of Houston, Texas, and Charlene Carroll and husband Robert (children Sydney and Sawyer) of both Houston, Texas and Marblehead. In his own quiet and gentle way, Ralph loved and cherished them all. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley Lawless (late husband, Joseph), Wendy George and husband Stephen, and Gail Johnson. Ralph was predeceased by sisters Carol Adams (late husband, Charles), and Patricia Johnson.

We hope that Ralph is on perpetual greens, golf clubs in tow, acing every shot.

A private celebration of Ralph's life will be held at a later date.
